Wise Steps is a £7.2 million programme, funded by ESF and matched by the Big Lottery Fund, designed to provide almost 2000 people with multiple barriers to entering employment with intensive and bespoke support across the North East of England. It is managed by the Wise Group – an award winning social enterprise – and operated by almost 40 partners across Tyneside and Wearside.


A key part of the programme is removing barriers to employment – maximising the quality of the participant’s journey towards this. To support our project we have an exciting opportunity for an Employer Engagement Consultant to join our team.


Applications are invited from individuals who are confident and charismatic, have a high level of communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to develop relationships with local and national employers.


Our ideal candidate will have a working knowledge and experience of the barriers faced by the long term unemployed in accessing employment. Commercial recruitment, marketing or sales experience would be advantageous.


Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for promoting the project and building a network of employers. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients.


A full driving licence and the use of a car would be advantageous as there is some travelling involved in this post.


This post is funded through the Big Lottery Fund, and part funded through the European Social Fund (ESF).

Hours:                   35 hours per week

Status:                  Fixed Term to June 2019 (with possible extension to 2022)

Salary:                  £20,000 – £22,000
