No Limits is an early intervention programme to divert young people aged 11 – 14 from offending and criminal activity.
Group activities and one-to-one mentoring are delivered by our trained team of mentors. Wise Group mentors have personal experience of the challenges facing young people. This experience provides credible, relatable and knowledgeable support.
The early intervention programme provided by No Limits was co-designed with schools, young people and community police officers.
Sessions take place in a relaxed and interactive way. A mix of games, teamwork, discussion and education on the root causes of offending behaviour form the bulk of the sessions. Topics include:
The team have continued to deliver our early intervention work throughout the pandemic, moving activities online. In one example, our early intervention work proved invaluable. One teacher commented:
“One of my students is an extremely withdrawn and quiet student. He finds it hard to engage with adults and build trusting relationships.
I have been hugely impressed with how well his No Limits mentor has worked with him. In a very short space of time, he has managed to gain trust and build a respectful relationship with my student that surpasses any he has built with school staff in his time here.
During lockdown, I had weekly phone calls with his mother and she would also report that her son really looked forward to his sessions with his mentor and how helpful she, as a parent, found this. She described it as a breakthrough and she said she felt like it was having a significant, positive impact on his mental health.”
