From single parent to self-employment, ex-offender to beekeeper and family-carer…
Do you have a health condition and/or have a disability?
Want to get into work, but not sure where to start?
Want to gently build your confidence in a peer support environment?
If yes, then Journey to Employment could be for you!
Journey to Employment takes a different approach to personal development and the support you need to move into work. It allows you to think about the type of help you would like, while also considering your health and well-being. Have the opportunity to talk to people in similar situations, be supported by, and give support to others beginning their journey.
• Meet once per week for 3 hours in a relaxed and friendly environment, for 12 weeks
• Practice setting social and work related goals in a safe place
• Gain debt management advice/benefit awareness
• Consider training, volunteering, work placement
• Build your confidence without any pressure, join groups and be involved in social activities
• Develop your CV, practice interviews and identify potential work opportunities
After completion of the 12 week course, continue your journey by receiving ongoing support within our Computer Hub.
Who can join?
People with a health condition and/or have a disability, who are unemployed and claiming Employment Support Allowance (Work Related Activity Group) or Universal Credit (Limited Capability element) with a Work Capability Assessment decision on or after 3 April 2017. If you’re not sure, please talk to us!
Need help deciding if the programme is right for you?
To help you to decide we always meet with customers before joining. We look at where you are at on your journey to work, your level of confidence, the amount of time you can commit to each week, and what you would like to gain.
How can I find out more?
We are providing 1 – 1 appointments and information sessions within your local Jobcentre Plus office, this allows people to find out more information about the programme. Please contact your Jobcentre Plus Work Coach to arrange. If you would prefer to come along to Charlotte Street, this can be arranged through your Work Coach.
