Wise Wellbeing launched at the Wise Group – a pioneering approach for our new environment

The rapid transformation of our personal and working lives creates opportunities and challenges for all of us. Recognising that, we have accelerated our Wise Wellbeing initiative, acknowledging that the workplace provides an important setting to influence the mental and physical health of our colleagues and wider communities.

As our customers at the Wise Group embrace new ways of engaging with us to get the support they need, our technology investment has been key to enabling this new way of working and our colleagues, who deliver support to people who need it most, will lead the way to making this transformation a success.

We are in uncharted waters and the mental and physical wellbeing of our colleagues and their broader community has been a top priority since the virus struck.

We each have a responsibility to look after our mental and physical wellbeing, and the workplace provides an important setting to influence the health of our colleagues. We have an opportunity to pro-actively enable this through a flexible approach to how colleagues structure their days, and in the way we lead and live our values. The Wise Group has developed a pioneering Wellbeing Package to provide a vision for the future of physical and mental wellbeing for our sector and further, in our communities.

Recognising and strengthening the preventative side of physical and mental health outcomes is as important as being prepared to support those already in need.

We set out to make sure that our wellbeing approach remained relevant in this new environment. Our robust review of ‘risks when working from home’ was quickly followed up with new strategic partnerships with ‘HeadStrong’ and ‘More Than Fitness’ and internally with one of our coaches who now provides a weekly guided meditation session one morning per week.

Three mornings per week the founder of HeadStrong hosts a bite-sized ‘30 minute mental health snapshot’. This is almost like a ‘thought for the day’.

The team from More Than Fitness put us through our paces at various times throughout the day, even encouraging family members to get involved, recognising that this is about sustainable change.

Conversations and team challenges provide an opportunity for camaraderie and for learning from each other and, where required, encourage people to seek out appropriate support. We hope that the Wise Wellbeing initiative provokes thought and discussion which will challenge you to enhance existing approaches to the management of mental and physical health and wellbeing in your organisation and its wider communities.
