November service update

This page is updated monthly with information about the Wise Group’s current support services across Scotland and how you can make a referral. All our services are available free of charge.

We welcome new referrals from our partners who are working in the community with people struggling with issues including mental health, unemployment and fuel poverty.

Services to help people manage their mental health

Re-Connect CBT is an online group therapy programme to support people with their mental health during the pandemic. Sessions are safe, secure and run by trained counsellors.

Current opportunities:  Weekly sessions, including evenings and weekends, will focus on anger, anxiety, depression and personal wellness.

Services for people looking to get back into work

Fair Start Scotland

Fair Start Scotland offers job seekers dedicated support with writing CVs, applications and covering letters, preparing for interviews and helping people get ready for moving into, or back into, work.

Current opportunities:  Preparing people for job search, be that now or in the coming months, and helping them improve their employability skills. Connecting people with local employers and their vacancies, helping them to navigate online job search and supporting people to find suitable roles and opportunities across the West of Scotland.

Online Construction Training

A career in construction can open many doors & we can help people get started through our Online Construction Training.

Current opportunities: Two day Health and Safety training, an essential requirement of all CSCS Card applications, is available online through Microsoft Teams. Open to all, with ITA (Individual Training Account) funding available to those eligible.

Barclays LifeSkills

LifeSkills, created with Barclays, offers free, flexible modules to develop skills to take control of finances and employment prospects, whether in work or not.  Modules include:  Managing a Budget, Managing Debt, CV Writing Skills, Interview Skills, Feeling Confident in Employment – and many more.

Current opportunities: LifeSkills is available free of charge to anyone over the age of 25 living in East Ayrshire, accessed from the comfort of their own home using Zoom.

Services to help people manage their energy costs

Home Energy Scotland

Home Energy Scotland is a free, impartial advice service to help householders, communities & businesses across Scotland to create warmer homes, reduce fuel bills and help tackle climate change.

Current Opportunities: Get Ready for Winter: Advisors can check eligibility for discounts from energy suppliers & funding and grants available for new boilers, insulation & heating systems. Support for employers includes free online energy saving workshops.

Home Energy Advice Team

Our Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT) offer expert advice to support access to supplier initiatives and funding for households in hardship.

Current opportunities: Help for prepayment meter householders to sustain their energy supply by assisting them to access eligible support. Assisting  householders to take advantage of supplier initiatives such as Warm Home Discount, Priority Register Scheme and Hardship funding.
