James was been referred to the Wise Group through the Work Programme. He had not been in full time work since the mid 1970’s and found himself in a position where he ended up with a criminal record. He wanted to get a full time job to get his life back on track but was unsure how to go about it.
Since 1983, the Wise Group has helped over 40,000 people find employment. The Wise Group has been a sub contractor to Working Links, delivering the Work Programme in the Glasgow area since 2011. Our success is down to experienced staff working closely with our customers to understand their job history, current situation, aims and aspirations and knowing what support is available to help them achieve employment.
James was demotivated due to the length of time trying to find work and he felt that due to his lack of work experience an employer would not take him seriously. James was assigned an advisor who enrolled him on an eight week programme to help him with his employability skills and improve his confidence. The programme included job searching skills, CV writing and interview techniques. After the course finished James’s advisor managed to secure him a work trial with a local warehouse, to give him valuable experience on his CV and get him back in to the working environment. This was also an excellent opportunity for an employer to see James’s potential and willingness to work.
Following the successful work trial James was offered a full time position. He is now enjoying being back in work after 30 years and says ‘Loving my new job, thaks to the Wise Group.’
