Wise Group comes together to Embark on latest project

Embark is a collaboration between the Wise Group’s Job Entry: Targeted Support (JETS) and Community Justice teams.

The project allows ex-offenders in our Community Justice programme to receive intensive help with searching and applying for jobs. It includes building a CV, writing cover letters, interview technique and tips, job searching, general career advice and includes significant post-course support as we try to match participants to employers.

All participants completing the course receive a Wise Group certificate, laptop, voucher for purchasing interview clothes and a washbag of personal hygiene products.

Our Employer Engagement team also continue to support the participants after the course, providing further assistance with job applications and identifying potential roles.

The first programme last year had to be conducted virtually due to Covid regulations, however, this month’s Embark was held over 3 days in our hub at Clockwise in Glasgow.

The feedback from participants continues to be exceptional.

Jonathan Russell, Head of Operations, said of Embark:

“Embark is a great example of collaboration across different parts of The Wise Group. The impact it is having on the lives of its participants is potentially life-changing.

“Stephen Scott and Patrick McAvoy deserve huge credit for the work they have put into developing and delivering the course, but it wouldn’t be possible without huge amounts of input from various mentors and team leaders in Community Justice, as well as the Employer Engagement team, to make it all work!”
