Archy Kirkwood serves as Head of External Relations at the office of the Liberal Democrat Leader. Has been a member of the House of Lords since 2005 and was an MP for Roxburgh and Berwickshire for 22 years before that. First elected in June 1983, he became the Liberal Party spokesman on Health, Social Services and Social Security. In 1992, he became the Chief Whip of the Liberal Democrat parliamentary party. In 1997, he became Chair of the Social Security Select Committee (now Work & Pension Committee). He has recently been appointed Chair of the Information Committee in the House of Lords. He is a Director and Trustee of the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust and was knighted in 2003 for his services to Parliament.
